Parent (103/804) and Contributory Parent Visas (143/173)
There are 4 main parental visas. One of the criteria for the application of these visas is the balance of family test.
Working Age Parents (subclass 103) - For parents who are not yet reached retirement age. The balance of family test applies.
Aged Parent (subclass 804) - For parents who have reached retirement age. This category is severely capped and there is currently a wait list of over 10 years for this category. The balance of family test applies.
Contributory Parent (subclass 143/173) - For aged parents where the family will pay for a fee to bring their parents to Australia. The fees for this visa are quite high at over $35,000 per parent. The balance of family test applies.
Remaining Relative (subclass 115 / 835) - For applicants who have 1 relative who is not currently in Australia. There is no balance of family test for this visa.
